The Holiday Cards You Should Have Written (there’s still time!)

in Cathy's Blog

I know, you ran out of time.

There was too much stuff to take care of before the holidays. This kids’ Christmas concerts ate up your evenings. The cookie exchange took all week to organize. Yada yada yada.

So Christmas is over. But just hang on a minute.

You’re in business and the only reason you have a business is because of your customers, prospects and support staff. Did you send any of them a card for the holidays? Well, it’s not too late. In fact, sometimes stepping outside of the norm makes you stand out from the crowd.

Right now, drop everything – get up, go to your local stationary store and see if they have Happy New Year cards. If they don’t, find a bright, cheerful blank card that you can run through your printer if you’ve got terrible handwriting. I’ll wait.

Back so soon? Great! Now you’re going to make a list. (and check it twice. Hmmmm… deja vu)

Your Clients: You do have a contact list don’t you? What’s that? You have too many? Then you need to hire someone with nice handwriting to help you.

Your Prospects: These people are just as important as your existing clients as they’ve shown an interest in your business. This could be the tipping point that gets them to do business with you.

That Long Lost Contact: You know, the one you haven’t connected with in such a long time that you’re too chicken to call. This is the perfect opportunity to open up those lines of communication. A simple handwritten note letting them know that you still think of them is as great start.

Your Support Team: Yes, entrepreneurs have support teams. Your contact at the bank that made sure the payment went through in time or how about your bookkeeper or accountant that makes those numbers work for you. Your delivery guy.(the one who wears shorts all year round) or the coffee shop owner whose place you turned into your satellite office. The printer that makes you look good (in high resolution!) See? You do have a support team.

And there you have it. If you really want to be remembered, you can repeat for Canada Day at the year’s half way mark.

Now Go Get Connected!
