Do you know a woman who has made a positive and long-lasting impact on our society?

Each year on March 8th,  people celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and girls. International Women’s Day is a day to acknowledge women who blaze a path for others to follow.

Be recognizing these women, it encourages others to seek out support networks; opens up access to mentorship and opportunities to further their leadership.  When there is regular access to female role models in business, it helps to advance women in business so it is critical for women and girls to have these role models.

It is a call to action for gender equality, inclusiveness, and women’s rights.

This time of year is a time to reflect on what we can do to change the world for women. Nominating a woman who inspires you shows her that she has made a difference. This recognition could have an amazing impact on her world. It could be the catalyst to keep her moving forward in her purpose/cause.

How can you make a difference? Your nomination can help that certain someone to:

• Receive recognition on a local, national, and global level
• Validate her invested time and hard work
• Elevate her leadership confidence and visibility
• Discover new opportunities to possibly further her purpose
• Increase her circle of influence with other like-minded women

I encourage you to take a few minutes out of your busy life, and recognize the positive achievements of a woman in your organization, your industry or in your life. If they are not comfortable about being nominated, then not only tell them what great work they’ve done, tell someone else about them.

Let’s raise the bar for this coming International Women’s Day and recognize those making a difference. It is important for women to be recognized for their achievements and that women support other women. When we celebrate the achievements of one woman, we celebrate all women!
