3 Steps to Getting a New Client in the next 7 Days
You want them, I want them, anyone who is in business wants them – but only a few get them. Do you?
Over the past 2 decades I’ve heard the talk from so many entrepreneurs but so few take action. They’ve got their strategies in place, they know all the answers on how to get clients and then these well meaning entrepreneurs just fizzle. And here’s the kicker – they blame their lack of new clients on something other than themselves… the weather, the economy, the time of year, (insert your excuse here!). Are you willing to do what it takes?
As with any successful endeavor, Planning + Action = Results
Here are 3 significant action steps to take right now if you want a new client within the next 7 days.
1. READY.
Are you investing 2-4 hours each day on marketing your business? Are you using those hours to get new clients? Excuse me? Speak up! Chances are the answer is no because you don’t have the time blah, blah, blah. This is no time for excuses, it’s time to plan. If you don’t make the time, you won’t have the time. When I was building my business, I dedicated at least 2 hours a day to promote me and my company. I attended networking events, business meetings, tweeted, posted, wrote articles, sent emails and made phone calls. Now I schedule a “Power Hour” three times a week.
2. AIM.
Could you solve multiple problems with the services you offer? Most likely, but now is the time to get focused. Choose one specific area, challenge, or topic to market and promote right now. Just one! (increased energy, decreasing stress, losing 15 pounds, setting up a home office, etc. you get the idea!) Create emails, phone scripts, promotional material et al that reflects this specific challenge. Don’t be tempted to cross sell your other offers. Give clients a “taste” of what you do. Offer a complementary eBook, workshop, consultation, webinar or …? Don’t be stingy! When you give the best, people will pay for the rest!
3. FIRE.
Put away your squirt gun and take out the heavy artillery. Now is the time to use the fire hose to get your message across. Here’s your strategy …
– You have a data base – USE IT! Email every contact about the target you chose, why it’s important and how you can help.
– Don’t be shy, contact 5 organizations and offer to speak to their group about this specific topic.
– Attend FOUR (or more!) networking events over a 10-day period. Do your research and make sure that you’re not talking about retirement to yummy mommies!
– Re-connect with past prospects that did not take advantage of your services.
Create a 7 day campaign to reach every person you can, discuss their challenge, offer your solution and how you can end their struggle. Remember to make sure it is clear how they can take the next step to working with you. Do it now.
