What’s Your Hook?

Why are people attracted to you? What makes you memorable and makes people excited to see you? What makes people want to do business with you?

In marketing circles the answers to those questions are considered ‘hooks’. In today’s instantly connected world, your hook is what will make you stand up and stand out from all the others clamouring for eyeballs on their content, attendees at their events and clients on their lists.

So, what is your hook and how are you using it?

Your hook is all about:

– Being memorable
– Being valuable
– Being unique

Take a moment and list the qualities that you feel encompass one or all of those three areas.

It could be humour, public speaking, creativity, marketing skills, compassion, an eye for style, writing skills, a knack for numbers, a great smile …. Keep writing!

Any of these qualities or characteristics could be your ‘hook.’ Some of them you come by naturally while others have been learned and over the course of your lifetime you have developed them to be liked and accepted. It’s human nature.

It’s the same with your business. It too has qualities and characteristics that endear it to your clients and engage prospects to become clients.

Focus on strengths, assets, style and benefits of doing business with you when determining your hook. Your hook should bring more value to others than you. in other words, it’s not about you, it’s about them.

It is really rather simple. To attract, gain and retain the clients you desire, you must discover and develop qualities that they will consider valuable to them. If you or what you have to offer is valuable to your prospects, you remove almost all objections to becoming your client.
